ACCELERATED DEATH BENEFITS (aka Life Insurance with an LTC rider) may be accessible on a simple permanent life insurance policy which allows for earlier access to the death benefit (before death) in the event of terminal illness. This is not considered a long-term care solution because of the restrictive nature of the LTC pay-out. However, some policies are using benefit eligibility criteria that is more similar to true LTC. It is very important to check the definitions in these types of policies because there is such a wide variety.
Some clients may want to consider a life insurance policy with an ADB feature if they have a sincere need for a robust death benefit and are not interested in a more comprehensive LTC solution through TQLTC or LBLTC.
